Resources & Links

Though you could comb through article after article looking for all the resources I've linked to or recommended, (which I would still recommend reading through) there shouldn't be a need to jump through hoops every time you want to find something you need. For that reason I've created this page to help you find what you need. Each of the headings link (or will link soon) to a dedicated page with full lists of links and descriptions. Here, though, you will find short and quick links to some of the highlights of those topics.

Professional People Resources

Jill Mettendorf: of Mira Digital Printing blogs about her 7+ years in dealing with Authors and Self Publishing, including frequently asked questions and helpful tips in her blog "Real Answers Real Authors". I personally have been very impressed with the offerings of her company as well as the professionalism, knowledge and courtesy that Jill herself displays. I know I'm looking forward into reading all of her insights.

Software Resources

Whatever your budget or your need these helpful products will get you writing!
Please visit the Software page for more than just writing software; it includes links and reviews of email, browser, image editing software and so, so much more.

Microsoft Office: This is most likely to be my forever favorite, regardless Very excited about their new Office 365 option!

Google Services: Google Drive is my favorite option when my MS Office isn't available, and it remains one of the easiest ways to share files and collaborate with others; all for free! Plus it syncs and links to your Google account services; GMail, Chrome, Google Calendar, Google+, etc.

Open Office: A popular option among many, I personally have not had the occasion to play with it in many years.

Adobe (Cloud): With Adobe Story Online and a industry move to eBooks, Adobe isn't just for images and websites anymore.

Hardware and Digital Storage Resources

From desktop to laptops, from printers to external drives; they've got you covered.

CyberPower PC: This resource is for the extra tech-savvy computer lovers that are doing more than just word processing. If you plan to design your own covers, concept art, or digital media as well as write (like myself), or if you are a serious gamer; this is the site for you. With endless PC options (and even possible Hackintosh builds) if you take pride in making your computer your own from the inside out this is the site for you! But don't fear if you aren't a computer guru their step by step build and customer service will help you either pick a pre-build or the right options for your custom build. To top it off their builds can come with everything, including multiple monitors, external drives and accessory options to blow your mind. And they're pretty too boot. ;)

HP: This once industry standard is on the rise again with plenty of options in both pre and custom build PCs, and still some of the most competitive printers around. Their easy options and wide range of products makes this favorite a staple in my mixed hardware home.

Dell: You may not be very tech-savvy but you know the difference between an intel and an AMD card, and you know what you want and need in your PC. Dell has upped their game, though mainly pre-build computers now, they've added the famed Alienware to their arsenal. And their monitors are right up there with the current Apple displays.

Apple: Speaking of Apple, though in a lot of ways above and beyond the needs of the standard writer, this popular tech-bent line remains near the top of the game when it comes to shinny options and exclusivity. Still the leading choice for many tech-savvy folk in many tech industries; if you want to design your own digital and print media to go with your work, but you don't want to have to learn all that extra tech stuff - this is a great option for you. Now with their Virtual Machine options you can run both Windows and PC software as well as those Mac exclusives.
